Unlike small office spaces where air conditioners can be used, cooling fans are applied to the cooling needs of industrial processes. Cooling fans come in different sizes depending on the process it cools. The general types of cooling fans are those found on the roofs of buildings. Some of them can be seen to be able to be placed on towering buildings. These towers are often mistaken for the plants themselves as this is the only visible structure mainly in the area. While these towers are prominent, other installations are much smaller. Like other installations, they are susceptible to damage especially those built on the ground. It may collapse or suffer from being subjected to bad weather and strong winds. These towers do not provide office space so some companies tend to decorate them. Those are known as the on-site installation type. For industrial systems, cooling fans have low heat dissipation requirements and it is common to use the packaged type. Packaged types are smaller than on-site vertical towers so they can be easily transported on trucks. Public facilities also utilise this type including hospitals, shopping malls, textile factories and hotels and can also be built near residential areas. The problem that may be encountered with this type is that it emits noise as it may cause disturbance to the sound of the surrounding area
